About Paracor

Paracor Medical is an innovative medical device company focused on providing unique, technology-driven solutions for the treatment of heart failure. Founded in 1999, Paracor was established to pursue new and innovative ways to treat heart failure (HF) that would not require the patient to undergo open chest surgery. Paracor engineers recognized that a mechanical approach to reducing the workload of a failing, diseased heart muscle could be a new and effective solution.

Paracor's HeartNet™ Ventricular Elastic Support Therapy provides the failing heart with a mechanical means to offload the weakened heart muscle. This may in turn reduce patient symptoms, increase activity and exercise capacity, and slow or halt the heart failure disease process.

The HeartNet™ Therapy is a less-invasive surgical procedure that allows the surgeon to place a super-elastic support device over the ventricles in patients who suffer from HF, while avoiding a "sternotomy" and the need to stop the heart and go on "by-pass".

Paracor products have been available for investigational use since 2004. Safety and feasibility trials of the HeartNet™ System have already been undertaken in Europe and the United States, with positive patient responses that support the advancement to pivotal phase. The PEERLESS-HF Clinical Trial, a randomized study comparing the HeartNet™ therapy to a control (best medical and device) therapy, has now been initiated at a number of leading heart failure centers around the United States and Canada. Additionally, a highly novel HeartNet™ System with Integrated Defibrillation Electrodes, for the prevention of sudden cardiac arrest when used with an ICD, combined with the therapeutic potentials of ventricular elastic support, is under investigational use in Europe.

The members of Paracor's senior management team have more than one hundred years of combined experience in the medical technology arena. Throughout their careers, they have been instrumental in bringing a total of 23 new and innovative products to market to improve the lives of patients. More than five million patients have benefited from these new technologies and products.
